Numerical analysis of the master equation.

Applied to the master equation, the usual numerical integration methods, such as Runge-Kutta method, become inefficient when the rates associated with various transitions differ by several orders of magnitude. We introduce an integration scheme that remains stable with much larger time increments than can be used in standard methods. When only the stationary distribution is required, a direct i...

Kovacs-Like Memory Effect in Athermal Systems: Linear Response Analysis

We analyze the emergence of Kovacs-like memory effects in athermal systems within the linear response regime. This is done by starting from both the master equation for the probability distribution and the equations for the physically-relevant moments. The general results are applied to a general class of models with conserved momentum and non-conserved energy. Our theoretical predictions, obta...

A Process Algebra Master Equation

A Master Equation provides a complete probabilistic description of the dynamics of stochastic processes. We give a master equation for a small stochastic process algebra (a subset of CCS with interaction rates). We show that it is equivalent to the standard Chemical Master Equation, connecting our process algebra to the stochastic chemistry of unary and binary reactions.

A Superspace Formulation for the Master Equation

It is shown that the quantum master equation of the Field Antifield quantization method at one loop order can be translated into the requirement of a superfield structure for the action. The Pauli Villars regularization is implemented in this BRST superspace and the case of anomalous gauge theories is investigated. The quantum action, including Wess Zumino terms, shows up as one of the componen...

Analysis and Numerics of the Chemical Master Equation

It is well known that many realistic mathematical models of biological and chemical systems, such as enzyme cascades and gene regulatory networks, need to include stochasticity. These systems can be described as Markov processes and are modelled using the Chemical Master Equation (CME). The CME is a differentialdifference equation (continuous in time and discrete in the state space) for the pro...
